I’m not sure how long ago it reappeared, but Old Scrote’s Cookbook is back on-line at a new location. It’s a no-nonsense collection of recipes gathered over the years by one man, and the methods are very easy to follow. Comments Off on Old Scrote’s Cookbook is back!

Had a response from Billion support today, with a link to a pre-release version of the firmware (1.02e.RC1) which fixes the IP translation issue (and has a few other features to boot) – so far, I’m pretty impressed with the company. Assuming it’s all pretty stable now, I’ll put up a more thorough review in a week or so. Comments Off on Firmware fix!

According to a couple of people, there’s a new firmware release due shortly for the Billion BiPac 7800N (possibly 1.02e), which should fix the source IP address issue, along with adding a few extra features to the web interface. Comments Off on New firmware on the way

Not sure that we’re going to be able to get much work done at the office tomorrow morning, as we’ll be without power for a few hours. The phones should stay running (as they’ve got a decent UPS) but we’ll be without access to our servers and the Internet. Luckily, I’m planning to be on-site elsewhere for the duration! EA have put up a form for applying for Beta keys for the rather delayed Battlefield Heroes online shooter – no guarantee of when you’ll get in though. You’ll also need to register for an EA account if you don’t already have one. Comments Off on Battlefield Heroes – beta signup form available

Ok, so I was a little over-optimistic, but apparently Wordpress 2.7 is due within the next few days – they’re down to just 30 open bugs at the time of writing. Comments Off on Almost there…

Looks like Wordpress 2.7 be available before the end of the week – it’s apparently being launched on Wordpress.com tomorrow, so that presumably means the folks at Automattic have had good feedback on the recent RC1 release. One of our school clients is changing to self-hosting their website, and Wordpress 2.7 should be a good platform for them, so long as there aren’t any show-stopper bugs waiting to leap out upon general release… Comments Off on WordPress 2.7 due before the end of the week?

It’s by Joss Whedon (of Buffy and Firefly fame), it’s a musical, with super-villains (kind of), super-(smarmy)-heroes, and it’s free. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is online – the first part already viewable, with the second and third acts arriving on the 17th and 19th of July. After that, you’ll have to pay to see them through iTunes, or wait for the DVD. Comments Off on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

Xara have released a bug-fix update for both the standard and Pro versions of Xtreme 4. 4.01 has a large number of bugs squashed and is recommended for all users. You’ll need to be running the CD version of the software though. Comments Off on Xara Xtreme 4.01 Update

Edugeek‘s been back online for a day or so now, – thanks to the unstinting work of the site staff. Needless to say, they’re looking to change hosting providers in the near future, so this shouldn’t happen again. Comments Off on Edugeek Back Online
